WetCanvas Live! Paint Stunning Landscapes from Photos: Lesson 3 & 4

JOHANNES VLOOTHUIS
Code: 820196

The macro world of landscapes is so complex. How do you bring all that visual information into the confinements of a rectangle which is just a mere square inches? In nature things fade out gradually in the peripheral vision of the viewer's eye instead of ending abruptly at the borders of a painting. So how do we bring the feeling of a real landscape location to the viewer who is only looking at a 2 dimensional area that fits in a box? It takes technique and skill to represent something from the authentic world into an artificial representation. This is where the art of cropping comes in handy. Follow Johannes during the oil painting procedure while comparing the photo to see what he overlooks or exploits from it.

You'll learn:
• The importance of mood that guarantees a successful painting
• What is valuable to conserve in photos and what to trim off
• Avoid unnecessary linear eye movements
• Insight on how the eye sees compared to how the camera sees
