Crewelwork and Redwork Embroidery

Project 1: Crewelwork

Project 2: Redwork

The venue: Beaumont Estate
Deborah Wilding from the Royal School of Needlework has designed this lovely winter project especially for the Craft Sanctuary.

You will be uses seven colours of Appletons Crewel wool stitched on to linen Twill.  You will be introduced to a range of stitches and an element of shading, making this an ideal project for anyone new to embroidery as well as those already captivated by the crewelwork technique.

Designed especially for Craft Sanctuary, Deborah’s Christmas inspired design is a five point star nesting inside a ten pointed star.

Stitched on 16 count Zweigart Aida, each shape is a different geometric pattern stitched with a combination of red DMC stranded cotton and gold Mouline. You will also use the additional technique of couching to give the design its beautifully bold outline.

The story of De Vere Beaumont Estate is a very British one; tales of democracy, royalty, education and religion, interwoven into its hotel's rich history. Today, this historic country estatehas been enhanced to accommodate today's way of living and is set just 3 miles outside of Windsor, close to the River Thames.
