Developing Japanese embroidery skills need not be a lifelong pursuit. Maire Curtis' gentle and thorough teaching style simplifies the traditional techniques of Sashiko, Kojin and Silk Embroidery. With all kits, workshops, food and accommodation included in the ticket price, this weekend needlecraft retreat will leave you able to incorporate Japanese embroidery into your everyday stitching.

Sakura Fan Japanese Embroidery
by Maire Curtis

Using DMC cotton and Zweigart linen, Maire teaches traditional Sashiko, Kojin and Silk Embroidery skills in a truly accessible way - no previous Japanese embroidery experience necessary! You will learn an array of effective texturising and decorative stitches along with the meaning and history behind them.
Chinese Lantern Cross Stitch Gift
by Lucie Heaton

Lucie has designed a selection of four lovely Chinese latern motifs for you to choose from. Teaching you the tricks of the trade for stitching onto 14 count plastic canvas, you can whip up bookmarks, keyrings or charms in this fun and colourful workshop.

Maire Curtis

Inherited from three generations of exacting maternal forebears, Maire learned intricate embroidery skills at a young age. Over the years, her mastery has been honed by some of the world's most prestigious embroidery schools such as Hand & Lock and the Royal School of Needlework, leading to such a successful business in creating bespoke wedding gowns and teaching the craft to eager students.

 



Lucie Heaton

Recently nominated for Cross Stitch Designer of the Year in the British Craft Awards, Lucie Heaton's designs have been published in magazines and books all over the world. Regularly commissioned by DMC, Lucie loves to design projects that crafters will be compelled to stitch - whether for themselves or for loved ones.
