The rare technique of embroidering with metal threads has been treasured throughout history due to the captivating way the materials reflect light. Traditionally reserved for royal and ecclesiastical applications, goldwork-adorned clothing and textiles continue to be symbols of affluence and status to this day. In celebration of the Royal Wedding and new Royal Baby, Flo Collingwood’s Illuminated Letter class will develop and broaden your goldwork skills, the Royal School of Needlework way.

This workshop is suitable for both beginners and those who want to explore goldwork further. Ruth Caig from StitchKits cross stitch has created a lovely Bejewelled Crown cross stitch design. With découpage hoop-decorating to start and a framing technique to finish, this project is a perfect way to salute your trip to Windsor.

Project 1: Goldwork

Join Ruth Caig from StitchKits cross stitch in stitching your very own royal design and decorating hoop with decoupage. Working from a chart, you will create a luxurious cross stitched crown, the perfect memento from your trip to Royal Windsor. The story of De Vere Beaumont Estate is a very British one; tales of democracy, royalty, education and religion, interwoven into its hotel's rich history.
