The Royal School of Needlework first started teaching the striking surface embroidery technique of redwork in the late 19th century, and redwork is still widely used in embroidery and quilting today. Designed especially for the Craft Sanctuary to neaten, perfect and develop your stitching repertoire, the fantastic redwork class held by RSN's Kate Barlow at this Craft Sanctuary retreat uses a variety of techniques and specialist materials.

Project 1: Redwork

Project 2: Cross Stitch

The venue: Eastwood Hall
Working from a chart, each of the five striking balloon patterns will help you master a different counted thread pattern. The design will be brought to live further, stitch by stitch with the impactful goldwork methods of couching and chipping.
In this class, you will work with your preference of Zwigart aida or evenweave and DMC stranded cottons to stitch a gorgeous selection of bespoke motifs covering birthday, new baby, congratulations and wedding occasions.
Surrounded by Nottinghamshire's magnificent countryside, this charming Georgian country house is the perfect setting in which to learn historic embroidery techniques. The award-winning 4* hotel effortlessly blends the essence of grandeur with stylish and modern amenities.
