Waste Canvas is a canvas held together with a starch glue agent. It is used to add hand-stitched cross-stitch to garments or other plain weave fabrics, and can be removed once the stitching has been completed, by dampening the finished piece and pulling out the canvas threads, leaving behind your perfectly even cross stitch.
