This dainty aviator hovers above delicate floating blooms. A multitude of vivid cotton thread colors are stitched on dramatic 14 count navy Aida and accented with gold metallic and blending filament threads. Both Cross and Half Cross Stitches are used to create the subtle color variations in this design.

I did this kit a year ago and after many hours of work it is now looking beautiful in a round gold frame. I usually do other forms of embroidery, but chose to do this cross stitch for it's wow factor. It really is a stunning piece, you create texture by using different numbers of strands of threads for different colours, as well as using half cross stitches in places. It has a stained glass effect with the design outlines made in gold cross stitches edged on both sides with backstitch. And the dragonfly wings are over stitched with an irridescent thread. The gold thread is quite difficult to work with, but it's worth the trouble. Highly recommended kit!
